01/29/2011 Just finished my first California audition! My first audition was with a theatre company in Santa Maria, California for their summer season. They produce multiple shows for their summer season, but there are only two that I am interested in. They are doing a production of Hairspray; which would be super fun! It is such a high energy show! The other show that they are doing that I am interested in is the American Premiere of My Fairytale. My Fairytale is the new Stephen Schwartz musical based on Hans Christian Anderson’s life. It would be super exciting to be part of an American Premiere; especially of a Stephen Schwartz musical! After preparing all week, I was ready with my song selection and monologue for the audition. I have to admit that I had a bit of nerves going knowing that this was my first audition in California and that it could almost set the tone for my experience out here. The audition went great! Once I finished my pieces, the casting director said, “I loved you! You were great!” Well if that is not some positive reinforcement, I do not know what is! In my past experiences casting directors rarely show emotion let alone lead on that they liked what you did. I headed back to the car grinning ear to ear! To top it all off, on our way back to Los Angeles, we saw the biggest, brightest rainbow ever! A double rainbow even! I think that is a good sign!
