09/16/16 "If you have good thoughts they will shine from you like sunbeams and you will always look lovely." Roald Dahl What a great reminder to think good thoughts and have a positive attitude. Summer is always a good time to remember this because it is an odd time here in Hollywood. Things tend to really slow down with everyone going on Holiday and I myself have felt a little disconnected with traveling and having so many family/friend commitments to attend. We had 3 weddings in 3 weeks for goodness sakes. It is nice to be back n LA if even for a couple of weeks before traveling again. This quote radiates with me not only because I put it on my social medias this past week in honor of #RoaldDahlDay but also because of a recent event where I was cast as a lead in an independent film. (I will explain why I spelled out Independent rather than just indie here in a few.) It was a great fun part where I got to be the same character as completely three different characters. Good news right?!...Wrong...Bad news...I received a phone call last week letting me know that the producers decided to not finish all of the paperwork to file with SAG and decided to do it as a non union project which also means I am out. To say the least I was pretty disappointed. Moving forward...So, I am focusing on the positive. I finished my first UCB sketch class and have been attending improv practice groups at UCB as well. I have posted additional Short Stories With MaryAnn episodes and we are now up to five available online. Even just this week, I have had a commercial audition yesterday, a TV audition today, have to put myself on tape for a theatre audition tonight, amongst a couple of others that I am not even mentioning. Positive good thoughts! Keeping moving forward, doing good work, working hard and having positive thoughts. Ooh I almost forgot, I spelled out independent because when back home in Ohio and speaking with a group of family friends, I had mentioned the indie film that I had just been cast in and they were super confused. One thought I meant indie from India, like a Bollywood film. One thought indie like and old school western with Cowboys and Indians/Native Americans. And my favorite was one who thought I meant indie like Indy 500, a NASCAR movie. Too funny!
