01/20/15 Oh boy, said as a sigh of relief on this much needed and appreciated day off. Two weeks have passed since the last time I wrote. We rehearsed for about a week and then moved down to Pennsylvania to have our tech rehearsals. The rehearsal days were long and everyone seems to be sleeping and laying low while we have these couple of days off. I must say that having a British production team not only provides for new ideas and direction, but we also get to break for teatime each day and I think that it is lovely. We had our preview and things went very well. Then we traveled to Massachusetts from Pennsylvania early Sunday and the conditions were less than favorable. (I have posted the official first day on the bus selfie below.) It was icy and rainy and sleety and we passed at least three different multi car pileups. My mind could not help but wonder to Buddy’s tragic fate during a winter storm and that made for a bit of a tense ride. Thankfully we all made it to the venue safe and sound Symphony Hall, which is a beautiful theatre. (Pictures of the venue posted below. The pics are stolen from other cast members postings.) However, the stage space small and we could not use all of our set and had to change entrances, exits, lighting, staging, etc. Much like the weather conditions outside, the conditions on the stage were less than favorable, size, microphones, lights, celeste not being on and improvising scenes because of this, etc. etc. Our team reacted to what was thrown at them and honestly I do not think we missed a beat. Was it our best show, not by a long shot; but we all pulled together and made it happen. Nice thing about being on this tour is that later this week we thankfully get to do it all again and this time with an appropriate stage and such. Even in situations like the opening when everyone is frustrated it is good to take a step back and think how truly lucky we are to be standing on that stage and attending rehearsals and having the opportunity to work together as amazing musicians/actors/ performers and share the story. We just need to take the time to stop and think, Oh boy we are truly lucky.
