11/04/14 Today I had an interesting audition experience. I had been scheduled an audition for a musical production. It was a small equity production. All of the research I had done prior on the company and theatre looked good, small but good. The production matched the dates I was available and I was prepared for the audition. They notified us ahead of time that there would be no accompanist so ok a little odd but it happens sometimes. Arrive at auditions with no sign in, just a free for all as to who goes and when, only the director is there with no other creative team, there is a CD player that does not even work all of the time (it skipped on my song and I had to restart) and we proceed. Long story short I ended up leaving the audition without even reading due to being so disappointed with the lack of professionalism and talent. (Sorry to say.) I am totally a believer that there is something to learn from every situation but this was not for me. Interesting being in this position and being able to pick and choose what projects I spend my time and talent on. I am grateful to be in this position but it is a little interesting none the less. In thinking about it, this is a call to remember our self worth and follow our instincts.
