02/09/2011 Today I took a trip to the Central Casting office in Burbank which is used to cast background talent or extras. I had all of my registration information in hand, identity verification materials and was camera ready as they have to take your picture. So, I got there around 10:40 a.m. and did not leave until almost 1:00 p.m. There were about 100 people in front of me when I arrived! Craziness! Everything went well and I will have to take back a few additional pictures to be added to my file in the near future. I will probably take a headshot, maybe a wedding dress photo and a bikini photo back with me next time. They suggested that I have a bikini photo on file because they get a lot of calls for those and not a lot of their talent has them on file; plus you get paid close to double. Sign me up! Also this past weekend, we made a trip to the Samuel French Bookstore and picked up some reading material. I have never seen such a store. Usually, you have to search and search for books containing monologues, or order online and wait for copies of plays to arrive, but this store had rooms of them. A very nice resource. Now, I have the book containing agency listing and another one for casting directors. I will be going through the agency listings the remainder of this afternoon and hopefully be able to send out some submissions by this weekend at the latest. On a side note, I truly enjoy that while I am working on the computer, or playing piano, practicing or whatever, my little puppy is just right by my side, my own personal audience!
